Archives

Every post to a list is kept in its archive: threaded, full-text searchable, and members-only — only people subscribed to the list can browse it. There is no public archive.

Browsing

The archive index (/l/[addr]/archives) lists messages as threads with full-text search over the extracted text. A single message page renders MIME-aware: plain text by default with a “View HTML” toggle, nested messages shown as quoted sub-threads, and attachments downloadable.

Membership and access

  • Not signed in: you’re asked to sign in.
  • Signed in but not subscribed: “Only subscribers of {addr} can browse its archives”, with a Subscribe button.

Retention

Archives are retained indefinitely by default. A list owner can set an automatic maximum age per list (archive_max_age_days in list settings; 0 means unlimited). There’s no automatic expiry unless the owner sets one.

What’s in the archive

Messages are stored with sanitized HTML and full-text search over clean text. Posting itself is email-only — there is no web composer; the web UI is read and admin-only for list content.
